Weekly News Recap (Steam in Tesla, The Verge Interview with Valve, Slippi Ranked)

Steam Deck⌗
- The Verge did an interesting interview with Pierre-Loup Griffais and Lawrence Yang regarding Steam Deck 2, Steam Controller 2, and their thoughts on the 6800U
- Crisis Core remake works great
- Tuesday’s client update (beta) fixes OSK on game exit and adds support for the Armor-X Pro attachment
- Wednesday’s client update (beta) adds better UI scaling at higher resolutions and adds Xbox Elite/Switch Pro layout preview pages
- Thursday’s client update (beta) fixes gamepad focus issue on the Steam store, adds minor fixes to login UI layout
- SteamOS 3.4 gets a “Tamed Keys” update that fixes the OSK crashing the graphics driver in Desktop Mode when it’s dismissed. 3.4 also got a Death Stranding map fix, and stable 3.3 gets a hotfix “to enable compatibility with future input firmware”
Hardware⌗
- Phoronix does an overview of the newly released RX 7900 XT/XTX cards (lucky bastard!). Seems like it does far better than the RTX 3090
- Tesla model S and X cars get Steam support
Software Updates⌗
- Slippi 3.0.0 gets ranked matchmaking!
- Kernel 6.1 adds Rust infrastructure, faster ext4 and btrfs, better support for Nintendo knockoff gamepads
- VKD3D-Proton 2.8 further reduces CPU overhead, and you should be able to run The Witcher 3 in DX12, with a few asterisks
- Proton gets a hotfix for The Witcher 3’s DX12 update
- Bottles 2022.12.14 supports multiple launch arguments, gets a revamped library page
- Heroic Games Launcher 2.5.2 adds framerate limiter option, Arm64 Mac OS support
- Cemu 2.0-21 gets Vulkan on Wayland support
