Heroic Games Launcher 2.3.0 Beta 2 Released, Adds New Theming Options + Platform Selection Choice
Earlier today the Heroic Games Launcher got updated to 2.3.0 Beta 2. Changes in this new beta includes the ability to choose what platform to install games to on Linux and Mac OS (for example, you can install the Windows version of a native game), change the theme, add games to your Favorites collection, and new ways to sort installed games. There’s also bountiful UI bug fixes, performance improvements, and other features.

If you’re not familiar with ARCropolis, it’s “a modding framework for loading and managing community-made mods and plugins,” while making use of the Skyline on-the-fly patcher. Primarily this is for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but who knows, it could work for other games down the road. Previously, making use of a mod or testing it required putting it on a hacked Switch. Now that ARCropolis and Skyline have been merged with the mainline Ryujinx build as of version 1.

He’s probably got a lot more on his plate now that he recently Tweeted about being the marketing manager for Mozilla Thunderbird, a very popular email client. Well, as is the traditional case with open-source forks in the Linux landscape of things, we’ve got another one: HoloISO. I’d still recommend the former over the latter, as winesapOS can be used on any device without installing, and comes with a bunch of extra gaming-related packages, but if you’re looking for something a little more minimal, you might want to give HoloISO a try.

A few days ago, GE-Proton7-16 was released. Not too much going on in this update, but a patch was added to fix a crash in Elden Ring when playing said game with fsync. Video playback updates, as well as Steam client updates, have been fetched from upstream Proton. Of course tools like dxvk and vkd3d-proton have also been updated to the latest git. YouTuber The Phawx recently uploaded a video that lowers the Steam Deck’s refresh rate to 40 Hz for smoother gameplay. However, it was done through Windows. Well, now it’s possible to lower the refresh rate on the Steam Deck than the default 60 Hz with Valve’s SteamOS. Ryujinx To Deprecate Support for Older Builds of Windows; 'Consider Installing Linux'
Ryujinx – the Nintendo Switch emulator – will no longer be supported on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and even builds of Windows 10 from 2018 and older, beginning June 1st. After that, the emulator won’t even run on those systems. The development team mentioned in their Tweet that “it’s not feasible anymore” to support these versions of Windows. Their reasoning is as follows: Graphics driver updates have ended for these systems.
