Rare 1.9.0 ‘Magnolia Catnip’ Adds Desktop Shortcuts, Kinetic Scrolling, and Tons of Fixes

Rare, the Linux frontend for the Epic Games Store, has now reached a stable 1.9.0 release following a few release candidates. Codenamed “Magnolia Catnip,” this update contains over 50 pull requests and as a result packs quite a few new features, UI enhancements, and bug fixes. Here’s just a few of the changes:

Rare (Epic Games Store Client) 1.9.0 RC 1 Released, Adds Plenty of Bug Fixes

While Heroic Games Launcher is a great Epic Games Store client for Linux, there’s another: Rare. Unlike Heroic, Rare is written in Python and does not use Electron as its base, thus saving your computer precious RAM. Quite a few new things released in this update, including a Settings for Epic Games Overlay, plenty of UI fixes, general bug fixes and typos corrected, and plenty of other features.
