New Beta Deck Client Update Adds Temperature Notification And Several Bug Fixes

New Steam Deck client update has rolled out to those on the Beta and Preview branches. Particularly noteworthy changes include the addition of a temperature checker that warns the user if the Deck is outside the safe operating range, favorite/popular guides have been added as an option to the Steam overlay, and sounds are no longer played when an achievement has been earned. Besides this there have been several bug fixes, including performance issues for those who have a lot of screenshots, and issues with the Steam overlay for games that don’t have achievements.
GE-Proton7-27 – The Halo Patch

Pretty big release for GE-Proton today, and it seems like it mostly centers around getting some more issues with Halo Infinite fixed.
First, dxvk, vkd3d-proton, and Wine have all been updated to the latest git. All three components have gotten the necessary patches for Halo Infinite merged. The campaign mode is playable now (even though it was technically working before, based on some reports I heard) and apparently there’s no need to rename or delete the video files anymore.
New Beta Deck Client Update, Stable Update for SteamOS, and Keep your Deck from Overheating

New beta Deck client shipped out just a few hours ago. This adds the Sucheng keyboard for Tradional Chinese, adds an Achievements page to the Steam overlay, prevents the annoying “You have unclaimed digital rewards!” notification from appearing every time you turn the Deck on, fixes Night Mode from automatically turning on when it’s set to OFF, and brings improvements to the OSK when in desktop mode (should now properly show up or disappear when the appropriate button is pressed).
GE-Proton7-25 Released, Updates Wine to Bleeding-Edge and Adds FSR Auto-Calculation

Today’s update to GE-Proton adds some fixes to Final Fantasy XIV (seems like that game always needs some kind of patching). Specifically the intro video after the datacenter select should be fixed (apparently this isn’t the first time this has happened). The patch notes mention that this may also fix WMV playback in a few other titles. Trove and Rift have been fixed as well.
Wine has been updated to bleeding-edge, which “brings in numerous fixes,” DXVK has been updated to 1.
Proton Experimental Fixes Regression with Final Fantasy XIV (Also Automatically Brings Up OSK on Deck for the Launcher)

If Gabe is into something, he really means it. So when he says he’s a Final Fantasy XIV fan, he’s going to get down to business. Because now the regression with said game when using different Proton prefixes should no longer be an issue. And that’s the only game that was shown any favor with this update. Talk about dedication.
Gabe further showed his love for the RPG by adding a little extra special sauce for you Steam Deck fans out there.
New Beta Deck Client Update Fixes Microsoft Edge And Updates Keyboard Behavior

Small update for the Steam Deck has rolled out today as beta, primarily focusing on bug fixes. Patch notes are as follows:
- Fixed a bug where some flatpak applications (like Edge) couldn't successfully quit - Fixed some issues with claiming Steam Deck digital rewards - Updated keyboard behavior for improved fast typing on trackpad and touchscreen. (pressing a key while holding another key will now commit the held key instead of waiting for first to release) Note that this is a beta client update and, as such, you will need to be opted into the Beta or Preview update branch in System Settings in order to download it.
Proton Experimental Fixes Assassin’s Creed: Origins Crash and Warframe’s Empty Launcher

Today’s update to Proton Experimental is a small one, but a good one for those of you who were recently experiencing issues with either Assassin’s Creed: Origins or Warframe. The former should no longer hang during gameplay after the recent update to the game, and the latter’s launcher should no longer be empty (apparently it was an experimental regression). EDIT: today’s update also enables compatibility with Rift, I had overlooked that!
DXVK 1.10.2 Released, Adds Workaround for Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare with AMD GPUs and Fixes Particle Effects for Sonic Adventure 2

Just a few minutes ago doitsujin from GitHub released a new version of DXVK, 1.10.2. It’s been a few months since the previous 1.10.1 release. 1.10.2 mostly focuses on bug fixes and adds workarounds for a few specific titles. For example, Star Wars: The Old Republic has had rendering issues fixed. Limbo now has a 60 FPS limit as a workaround for a few bugs. All of this and some other more generic fixes that I couldn’t even attempt to translate into basic English if I tried.
New Deck Client Update (Beta) Adds Automatic UI Scaling for External Displays, and Scheduled Night Mode

A new beta update is now available for the Steam Deck client. Notable features with this update are the ability to schedule when night mode should turn on and off (no need to install the plugin anymore!), and the option to scale the Steam Deck UI when the Deck is connected to an external display. There’s also a toggle to automatically scale the UI to the appropriate size when connected to said display.
