No, Portal 3 Probably Won’t Happen

No, Portal 3 Probably Won't Happen
The podcast that Kiwi Talkz had with Eric Wolpaw – one of Valve’s writers – has been reported on by many media outlets. Specifically about bringing Portal 3 to life. “Let’s do it!” Wolpaw says. “I’m not getting any younger.” But here’s the problem: Wolpaw doesn’t have much “power” at Valve. Someone higher up at the corporation would have to give the green light in order for them to even consider it.

A Game Developer Sheds Light on Linux Versus Windows Sales

A Game Developer Sheds Light on Linux Versus Windows Sales
It’s not often that a game developer reveals the sales numbers for their games. But I noticed a Reddit post by the developer of the puzzle game Rob Riches who goes over not only the total sales of the game, but how many copies were sold per platform. A total of 266 copies were sold. 237 of those copies were bought on Windows. 27 were bought on Linux. That’s a little over 10% of total sales!

ARCropolis/Skyline Modding Support Added to Ryujinx

ARCropolis/Skyline Modding Support Added to Ryujinx
If you’re not familiar with ARCropolis, it’s “a modding framework for loading and managing community-made mods and plugins,” while making use of the Skyline on-the-fly patcher. Primarily this is for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but who knows, it could work for other games down the road. Previously, making use of a mod or testing it required putting it on a hacked Switch. Now that ARCropolis and Skyline have been merged with the mainline Ryujinx build as of version 1.

Project Heartbeat v0.15 Released as Beta, Adds a New UI Skin Editor
Good things just seem to keep coming to Project Heartbeat. Last month the game got an audio engine overhaul. Now we’ve got a UI skin editor, with Steam workshop integration. You can use your own textures and fonts. Even animated textures are supported. Apparently a health system has been incorporated as well. Meaning if you miss too many beats, game over. Since this is a beta, you’ll need to opt-in to the beta branch in the game’s properties menu.

HoloISO - An Unofficial SteamOS 3 Image

HoloISO - An Unofficial SteamOS 3 Image
About a month ago I had talked about a portable Linux distro that gives a SteamOS 3-like experience: winesapOS. Well, as is the traditional case with open-source forks in the Linux landscape of things, we’ve got another one: HoloISO. I’d still recommend the former over the latter, as winesapOS can be used on any device without installing, and comes with a bunch of extra gaming-related packages, but if you’re looking for something a little more minimal, you might want to give HoloISO a try.
